Abstract

Sexual assault is the most under reported violent crime in the United States. This fact causes sexual assault to be a major social problem, but also very controversial. This study will examine the vast literature regarding sexual assault on college campuses and the many controversies that encompass this topic. A few examples of different controversies that will be explored are how campus judicial boards define sexual assault, the “yes means yes” v. the “no means no” campaigns on sexual assault, the role of alcohol, the different statistics that state how many sexual assaults occur on campus, and the various arguments regarding how sexual assault should be defined and adjudicated.
