Ten, It Is!

It's always a moot point as to whether an institution celebrates an anniversary in the tenth year of its life, or the year you get by adding ten to the year you started. Suddenly, it's the tenth season of Music Theatre, and we've decided to have it both ways: so this is our tenth season, and 1972 will be our tenth anniversary. We intend to celebrate both summers, mostly by presenting the best plays we can find in the best ways we know. But first off, speaking for myself and in a very real sense, I am sure, for the administration of La Salle College, I should like to offer my grateful and sincere appreciation to the fine people, the talented and devoted people, who have constituted our company and staff over the years. And in a very special way to the audiences who have been so loyal and appreciative. About 185,000 people have seen the plays of the first nine seasons, and we hope sometime in August, during the run of ALLEGRO, to greet our 200,000th patron. If the records for the first three weeks of the first season, when I was busily papering the house to give the illusion of tremendous success before it had actually come to pass, were a little more accurate, we could greet that patron with rather more assurance, and appropriate honor.
