Here we examine a series of illustrations depicting the miracles performed by Jesus during the period of his earthly ministry. In her seminal text, Iconography of Christian Art, Gertrud Schiller explains that artistic representations of Christ’s miracles “stress Christ’s confrontation with individual people.” In this gallery we have chosen a variety of scenes, but the main point of analysis will be the figure of Jesus.
