Fanny Kemble was an accomplished writer, as well as the foremost actress of her time. This edition of her play Francis the First was published in Philadelphia when she was performing in the city. The Philadelphia first edition is a rare book; WorldCat records just four other copies of this imprint: Brown, Harvard, Illinois, and Stanford.
