Bound For Glory, by Woody Guthrie. New York, 1943. According to Dylan's memoir, Chronicles, his adoration for Woody Guthrie began in 1960 ,when he borrowed a copy of Guthrie’s autobiography Bound for Glory from a college classmate. He writes, "I went though it from cover to cover like a hurricane. Totally focused on every word, and the book sang out to me like the radio." Woody Guthrie was inarguably Dylan's greatest early influence, both as a song writer and as a singer.
