Brief Biography

Dr. Robert Sher began his career as a Special Education teacher, working with K-12 students in public schools. After working in a variety of settings around Philadelphia as a School Psychologist, he joined Alternative Choices, a private psychotherapy practice in Philadelphia with Dr. Robert Naseef and Dr. Cindy Ariel, which specializes in treating children, adolescents and adults on the Autism Spectrum. At Alternative Choices, Dr. Sher works with individuals, families and groups to address the many challenges—both emotional and practical—that confront people on the Autism Spectrum.

Description

Parents and caregivers will address behaviors and attitudes that either foster or inhibit a family’s ability to accept the specific nature of their child’s autism symptoms. We will explore the difference between intelligence and ability, the pros and cons of labels, comorbid conditions, and various other factors affecting the process of acceptance.
