Abstract
Bismarck played a major role in the process of German unification during the latter part of the 19th century. I would argue that without Bismarck German unification would have played out in a significantly different manner and possibly not during the same time period as it did. Bismarck was by almost all accounts the architect of German unification. German Unification under Prussian leadership was Bismarck’s brain child. Bismarck changed the face of Europe with the Unification of the German states. In this paper I will seek to prove that Bismarck drastically changed the face of Europe by examining the major role he played in German unification an act that by many contemporary accounts of the time was nigh impossible. I will do this by examining several different sources of information that I feel reveal the nature of Bismarck’s role in unification.
